"The Mission" Featuring Maia Chaka, NFL's First Black Female Official
After honoring Black History Month and Women’s History Month over the past 10 weeks, Hall of Fame Productions celebrates the excellence of Maia Chaka, the first African American woman to officiate in the National Football League.
On “The Mission” podcast, Chaka shares her humble beginnings of working her way through Conference USA and the trials and tribulations she faced of breaking through the glass ceiling that Sarah Thomas had helped break as the first woman to officiate in the NFL as well as a Super Bowl.
Also, see which Hall of Famer from the Class of 2009 surprised Chaka on “The Mission” to congratulate her and to ask for a donation of history-making artifacts to the Hall!
Chaka will be donating several items to the Museum, and the Hall looks forward to putting those artifacts on display in the Pro Football Today Gallery this summer.
