What is the Merlin Olsen Super Bowl Luncheon?
The Merlin Olsen Super Bowl Luncheon debuted prior to Super Bowl XL in Detroit in 2006 and was named for Olsen, the longtime standout with the Los Angeles Rams and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 1982.

Olsen’s vision for this luncheon has helped fund the Hall of Fame’s Enshrinees Assistance Fund, which assists Hall of Famers in need.
Here is his self-authored “mission statement”:
The focus of my life begins at home with family, loved ones, and friends.
"I will use my resources to create a secure environment that fosters love, learning, laughter and mutual success.
"I will protect and value integrity … and I will admit and quickly correct my mistakes.
"I will be a self-starter and a caring person.
"I will be a good listener with an open mind.
"I will continue to grow and learn.
"And I will facilitate and celebrate the success of others."
