In the Cleveland Browns’ Week 10 victory over their division rival Pittsburgh Steelers, defensive back Denzel Ward became the first player since at least 1999 to record at least 10 passes defensed and two interceptions in each of his first six seasons in the National Football League.

A pass breakup midway through the third quarter of the game Nov. 20 marked Ward’s 10th of the season. In Weeks 7 and 9, he intercepted passes against Indianapolis and Arizona.

Ward is second in the NFL with 75 passes defensed since he was selected No. 4 by Cleveland in the 2018 NFL Draft, behind James Bradberry’s 85.

An Ohio native, Ward attended Nordonia High School in Macedonia, Ohio, and Ohio State University from 2015-17.

Now on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s “Pro Football Today Gallery” are Ward’s game-worn No. 21 jersey and gloves from Week 10.

(Note: Passes defensed did not become an official statistic until 1999.)
